A New Season is Upon Us

Written by Dr. Dorothy A. Martin-Neville

Today is trash day. On the way to put out the barrels, I was caught by the vision of falling leaves. Only then did I notice all those that had already landed on the grass and the driveway. I can no longer pretend that it is simply “a cool day”. Fall has arrived and summer has left.

Yet again, I am struck by the realization that life passes by quicker and quicker each year. It’s all perspective, I know, yet it seems so real.

How do you adjust to time “disappearing?”
How do you adjust to the realization that each year that passes means another year less to make all the changes on the planet and in your world that you envision?

One response is panic and stress.

Another is gratitude for all the time we have been given.

Realizing that even our visions are a gift, recognize that the blessings of life include our passion, our ability to see a better world, and our desire to help make it real. Each of us, blessedly, may have different visions. So much is needed that all those visions have a place.

So now, as another more reflective season is upon us, what are your desires?

Each season provides a new opportunity to reassess, reevaluate, and reorganize. It is not simply a temperature change; it is also another chance to assess your life, where it is, where you want it to go, and how you want to get here.

Understand that each season is a new beginning.
Take the weekend, if you haven’t already, to sit in the quietness and look at where you are along your journey, where you would like to be in the next 5 years, and then how you can use this glorious season of fall, to make that vision for you, and the world, a reality.

My daily meditations are to support me in living each day from a place of balance and inner peace.

My meditations at the change of each season, are to assess where I am, where I am going, how I want to get there, and, certainly, to be conscious of the price I will pay, emotionally, spiritually, physically, financially, and energetically.

It can seem like a lot as you read this, but in truth, my experience is that it feels so nurturing, grounding, and hope-filled.

Life is limitless, anything is possible, and all it takes is knowing that your visions are what make it all possible. Make them authentically yours, filled with the promise of new life, new experiences, and an expanded understanding of the gifts this life provides us.
