Growing Business Virtually the Easy Way

Written by Machen MacDonald

Stop wasting time and energy trying to figure out what to do to grow your business.

Successful professionals and business owners have a proven daily routine you can borrow.

Growing Business Virtually the Easy WayBusiness owners will come to me and ask if and how I can help them grow their business. In my endeavor to answer them, I’ll ask them to tell me about their current marketing or business development plan. Most don’t really have one by the way. Which is a clue right there. For those who do have a plan, they proceed to share their vague-specific strategy which sounds good but doesn't say much or provide any direction. Here’s the funny thing – I will then ask them what are they currently doing that is getting them clients? Guess what? It's always different from what’s in their plan.

Newsflash! Whatever you did to get your last 10 clients, DOUBLE DOWN on that!

Here are the top eight things I'm hearing when I ask where did you get your last 10 clients:

  1. Attend virtual networking groups & follow-up with the people that you met. Do this within the first 24 hours. Have a sequence of 5-7 more touches you can initiate thereafter to stay in touch.

  1. Reach out to current clients & check in on them to see how they are doing. Often you will find their situation has changed and they need your services and additional products.

  1. Research clients' connections on LinkedIn or cross-directories & ask for introductions to those ideal people. Ask your client to provide a favorable introduction.

  1. Conduct relevant & helpful webinars (30-60 min) for clients & prospects.

  1. Nurturing & cultivating previously established relationships from trade groups, chambers, and associations. And, join new ones & get involved in committees.

  1. Write, publish, & share relevant and helpful articles.

  1. Add a relevant and informative lead magnet to your website that captures the interested prospect’s name and email in exchange for your intellectual capital. Be sure to follow up once you have sent your helpful content in the form of a special report, video, or another resource.

  1. Invest an hour of power prospecting on Linkedin or other social media. If you would like to know the 8 things my clients & I do consistently in that hour to generate more qualified leads, send an email with Linkedin 8 in the subject to [email protected] and I’ll send you the list.

Here's to growing your business virtually.

Make it up, make it fun, and get it done!
